What is the Afro Gold Dollar? #

The Afro Gold Dollar (AGD) is a fully gold-backed stablecoin issued within the Migodi-Auric ecosystem. Unlike algorithmic stablecoins or fiat-collateralized stablecoins, AGD is backed by physical gold held in ZAMACE-approved warehouse facilities and settled through ABSA Bank Zambia.

AGD serves two primary functions: it is the settlement currency for ecosystem transactions (cooperative payments, Believe Cash terminal operations, Aurion spot trades) and thein-game currency for the Ndeipi Studios gaming IP โ€” the Cyberwars transmedia universe.

Hard collateral: Every AGD in circulation is backed 1:1 by a Coop Coin, which is itself backed by 10 grams of physically verified gold in a ZAMACE warehouse. AGD is not an algorithmic or partially-collateralized stablecoin.

Peg Mechanics #

โ›“๏ธ
Issuance
AGD is minted on the NMX/DMX ledger when a Coop Coin is locked as collateral. 1 Coop Coin locked = 1 AGD minted. No AGD can be minted without a corresponding Coop Coin.
๐Ÿ”“
Redemption
AGD holders can redeem 1 AGD for 1 Coop Coin at any time through the Aurion terminal. Coop Coin holders can further redeem for physical gold via ZAMACE warehouse release.
๐Ÿ“Š
Reserve Monitor
The Aurion terminal displays the live AGD peg monitor โ€” showing total AGD in circulation, total Coop Coins locked as collateral, and the real-time backing ratio.
๐Ÿฆ
Bank of Zambia
AGD operates under a stablecoin framework being aligned with the Bank of Zambia. BOZ oversight provides institutional legitimacy and regulatory compliance for Zambian operations.

Gaming Integration โ€” Cyberwars #

The Afro Gold Dollar plays a unique dual role as both a real-world financial instrument and a gaming currency. Within the Cyberwars transmedia universe โ€” developed by Ndeipi Studios, Lusaka โ€” AGD functions as the primary in-game economic unit.

  • Real value backing: Unlike conventional in-game currencies, every AGD used in Cyberwars is backed by physical gold โ€” players hold real-world value
  • Cross-platform portability: AGD earned in-game can be redeemed for Coop Coins and ultimately for physical gold through the Aurion platform
  • Gaming IP partners: MOUs signed with Gatsby Games and Theia Interactive for studio integration
  • NIT Lusaka connection: The Ndeipi Institute of Technology (NIT) in Lusaka feeds talent into Ndeipi Studios, with Ava Lynch identified as Founding Creative Director candidate

Bank of Zambia Alignment #

AGD operates under a stablecoin governance framework being developed in alignment with the Bank of Zambia (BOZ). Key alignment points:

  • Full collateralization requirement โ€” BOZ framework requires 1:1 backing for any gold-pegged stablecoin operating in Zambia
  • Reserve audit rights โ€” BOZ retains audit rights over ZAMACE warehouse reserves backing AGD
  • ABSA Bank Zambia intermediary โ€” ABSA provides the regulated banking rails for AGD issuance and redemption, satisfying BOZ's licensed intermediary requirement
  • Anti-money laundering โ€” All Believe Cash terminal transactions comply with BOZ AML/KYC requirements via ABSA's compliance infrastructure
